Trade Shows 2013

As proud members of the Wastewater Industry, trade shows in Europe, USA and Canada provide important meeting places for BIOWORKS companies AWT Technologies (Canada), BIOWORKS North America and BIOWORKS GmbH (Germany) to talk, collaborate, exchange knowledge and information with other players and decision makers in the industry, or meet with new and old acquaintances. After over 25 years in this industry, there is always new insight to be gained in some of the latest trends and innovations at these stimulating events.

Visitors to our booth have the opportunity to gain knowledge of our range of quality free engineered products using low maintenance robust and corrosion free equipment, services including detailed WWTP engineered design from 20 m3 (5,000 gpd) to 200 MLD+ (50 MGD+), and technologies that make operation simple and easy.

Key personnel will be available to answer questions and discuss topics on key issues such as upgrading lagoons, small foot print technologies, improving aeration efficiency and saving energy costs, packaged plant solutions for small developments, treatment of particular types of industrial and municipal wastewater and more.

Here is the line-up of forth coming events in 2013:

USA

WEFTEC is the largest water quality event in North America. Each year, WEFTEC is attended by thousands of the world's major players in water quality manufacturing, research and technology services of the industry.

WEFTEC 2013, takes place at the McCormick Place, Chicago IL, USA October 5 - 9 and we will be exhibiting with other BIOWORKS Companies,  BIOWORKS North America  in Exhibit Booth #4848.

At this event, there will be a display of OXIWORKS® diffusers. This robust and corrosion free equipment is a key component of our BIOWORKS technology which provides highly efficient energy saving aeration. It is also very suitable for replacement of old inefficient equipment and lagoon upgrades.

Canada

In 2012, we exhibited at the WCW Annual Exhibition in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 2012 Banff AWWOA operators' seminar (Banff, Banff National Park, Alberta) and BCWWA 2012 Annual Conference Trade Show in Penticton, BC. We hope to be exhibiting again at these important events next year.

Our next event in Canada will be the Manitoba Water and Wastewater Association, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, February 4- 5, 2013. Mark this important event in your calendar - don't miss this opportunity to talk to us! We will be exhibiting in Booth 16

Your lagoon system can be upgraded by simply replacing an old inefficient aeration system with more effective equipment. Follow the links below to find out more:

Why upgrade?

  • Save on energy costs by reducing the aeration air demand with a more efficient aeration system.
  • Improve the quality of your effluent by allowing a more complete breakdown of pollutants and microorganisms/bacteria through improved mixing and oxygen transfer into the wastewater.
  • Reduce the environmental impact of your wastewater treatment process by reducing the carbon footprint of your facility.

When is a good time?

With the cost of energy steadily rising, and effluent discharge permits becoming increasingly stringent, now is a good time to upgrade your lagoon.

Have you heard of OXIWORKS® aeration and OXIRISE® maintenance and cleaning systems?

Picture of OXIWORKS aeration system
OXIWORKS®
is a moving fine bubble aeration diffuser system consisting of floating lateral air headers with suspended aeration
diffusers, which oscillate to provide more complete mixing of air throughout the lagoon. The high-tech silicone membrane diffusers produce fine bubbles of optimum size for dissolving oxygen into the wastewater.

OXIRISE® makes maintenance and cleaning of the diffusers simple and easy.  OXIRISE® uses pressurised air to float the assembly effortlessly to the surface without the need for any awkward manual lifting of heavy equipment or slippery hoses. OXIRISE®cleans the diffusers at the surface by `flushing` high air flow through the membranes to remove any biological slime. This essential piece of equipment will reduce further cleaning requirements, help maintain oxygen transfer efficiency, and ensure maximum service life of the diffusers.

Why choose OXIWORKS® aeration system?

  • Superior SOTE rates. The moving diffuser principle of operation and production of fine bubbles makes OXIWORKS® aerators highly efficient, resulting in lower energy consumption, and high quality effluent.
  • Savings on cost of maintenance, service and replacement parts. OXIWORKS® is constructed from high quality, robust and corrosion free components with long service life.
  • Environmentally friendly, recyclable polypropylene components.
  • Easy maintenance. The OXIWORKS® floating aeration system is easier to maintain than fixed floor-mounted grid aeration systems. They are not rigidly anchored to the tank floor, and can be maintained during the normal process operation without emptying the basin, by pulling them up to the surface. With OXIRISE® the assembly can be floated effortlessly to the surface.
  • Prevention of any backflow of liquid or sludge. OXIWORKS® system automatically shuts off and is sealed if aeration or the operation of the plant is interrupted.
  • Expandable, modular system. If more aeration is needed, an OXIWORKS® system is easily upgraded with the simple addition of diffusers to the floating header.
  • No hidden costs. We supply everything you need. We supply the complete aeration system inside the lagoon, with all accessories, diffusers, floating pipe, couplings, hoses, clamps, ballast, fixation (steel cables, shackles etc.), including the termination valve at the shore.

Simple maintenance and cleaning by OXIRISE®
What can you expect from an OXIWORKS® installation?

  • Installation and supervision carried out by our site staff, typically within 1-2 weeks.
  • No need to drain the existing lagoon basin, or interrupt the treatment process.
  • Mechanical performance test and signed completion certificate following completion of the installation.

Water Saving Tips

Become part of a water-concious community and help save the supply of our most essential and most precious resource, preserve the quality and of our lakes, rivers and ground water for future generations. By making small changes to our habits, we can significantly reduce the amount of water we use.

Encourage your neighbours and friends to do the same. Household use of water accounts for the majority of the consumption of municipal water. Together we can reduce the strain of municipal water on the capacity and quality of our lakes, rivers and ground water supplies and the cost of maintaining, upgrading, replacing and adding infrastructure to maintain our water systems.

This Winter we offer you 10 ways to to get started saving water at home. Don't forget to check your water meter and bill to track your water usage.

  1. Time your shower to keep it under 5 minutes. You can save up to 1000 gallons a month.
  2. If your shower can fill a one-gallon bucket in less than 20 seconds, replace it with a water-efficient showerhead.
  3. Install low volume toilets.
  4. Turn off the water while you brush your teeth and save 4 gallons a minute. That's 200 gallons each week for a family of four.
  5. Teach your children to turn the faucets off tightly after each use.
  6. Run your washing machine and dishwasher only when they are full and you could save 1000 gallons a month.
  7. Compost your kitchen scraps and use the garbage disposal less often.
  8. When washing dishes by hand, fill up two washing-up bowls with water. Use one for wash water, the other for rinsing. Don't use running water.
  9. Soak your pots and pans instead of letting the water run while you scrape them clean.
  10. Check for dripping faucets and leaky toilets. Fixing a leak can save 50 gallons each month. To check for a leaky toilet, add a few drops of food colouring to the tank, then watch for coloured water appearing in the toilet bowl.
